Learn More About Wooden Garden Arbors
An arbor can be a huge structure that stretches across a large area of your yard providing protection from the elements or a small rounded doorway to use as an entrance to your garden. It can be a wonderful reading area with a little bench installed.
You can use wooden garden arbors to grow a succulent bunch of grapes with their large leaves that can provide an interesting setting, or grow flowers for a fragrant and colorful display. Grapes are actually not that hard to grow and can be grown anywhere in the US if you choose the right variety for your area. If you are not interested in grapes, you can use it for climbing roses, wisteria, trumpet vines that will attract humming birds, honeysuckle, or star jasmine (warmer climates only).
To train the vines to grow where you want them to on your arbor, hammer large nails or staples into the posts and wrap some coated wire around them. As the plant grows you can tie the vine with the coated wire and train it to go where you want. Your flowering plants should be fertilized and pruned as instructed on the container you got them in or ask your local garden supply store. Grapes need special pruning so that you get a good amount of tasty bunches.
If you are handy, you can buy plans to make wooden garden arbors, gazebos, wooden bridges and more garden decorations. If not, you can buy them from local stores, online or even contract someone to build one for you.
