Resin Outdoor Furniture
Resin outdoor furniture provides a low maintenance way to get lots of seating in your patio and garden.
You may identify outdoor resin furniture with those cheap white molded plastic chairs you find in the supermarket for about $5.00 each, but you can actually buy some very stylish pieces if you want to spend a bit more.
Resin outdoor furniture comes in a wide variety of styles. Aside from the plain chairs mentioned above, you can get sleek and stylish chaise lounge chairs with backs that raise up. Lounge chairs come in traditional slotted designs or with quick drying material on it (the same chairs used by 5 star resorts).
Choose from a wide variety of end tables and dining tables - even ones that slide out to expand seating. And don't forget a pool bar cart made entirely of low maintenance resin while you are shopping around!
Some outdoor furniture that is traditionally made from other, harder to care for, materials is now made with resin. Wicker, a porch staple since the turn of the last century, is beautiful but does not wear well when exposed to the elements. Now you can buy any shape, style or color in resin - it looks exactly the same! They also make cast iron look alike resin outdoor furniture, much lighter and no rusting.
Since outdoor resin furniture does not breathe well, you will want to consider cushions for any furniture you are buying or risk sitting in sweaty sticky chair! Make sure you get cushions that resist mold and are waterproof if you will be keeping them outside. On the upside, resin does not get hot when standing in the sun and is extremely resistant to chlorine and suntan oil making it a perfect material for pool furniture.
To clean resin outdoor furniture, remove the cushions before hand. Then spray the piece with a garden hose. If there are scratches or marks, you can use a mild abrasive to remove them. If you find mold or mildew use a solution of 1 gallon of water, 1 cup bleach and 2 cups detergent. You can also buy a special resin cleaner that claims to get rid of pollution stains on your furniture. It comes in a can and you spray it on – I’ve never tried it myself so I can’t say how well it works! When the outdoor season is over, you should bring your furniture inside, or at least cover them with furniture covers to protect them from the harsh winter elements.
