Using An Outdoor Furniture Cover

When shopping for an outdoor furniture cover, you'll want to make sure you get ones that are made with a heavy duty material that is mold and stain resistant and waterproof. Most covers are lined as well to protect your furniture even further. Splurge on the best you can buy and you will be glad you did. Of course, you'll want to make sure you buy the right size for your furniture so be sure to measure before you go shopping. You'll also want to make sure the covers have some way of attaching to the furniture such as ties or Velcro - you need to make sure the cover will stay on securely during all types of weather.

Each year, you will want to inspect your outdoor furniture covers for damage, mold and stains and clean and repair them if possible. They should last several years, but eventually you will probably need to replace them - the cheaper they are the more often they will need to be replaced so you really do get what you pay for. Be sure to clean mildew of as soon as you see it - you can use a solution of 1 gallon of water, 1 cup bleach and 2 cups ammonia free dish washing detergent. Spray the mildewed area with this solution and let sit for 20 or 30 minutes then clean thoroughly.

You should use your outdoor furniture cover whenever your furniture is not in use. If you can cover them every night when you go to bed that that is great! At the very least, you should use them when you will be away for extended periods and when you put the furniture away for the season.
