Organic Container Gardening – Getting
Started
Most everyone wants to grow fresh veggies and fruits, or even beautiful
flowers and when I say fresh, I mean without the use of commercial
fertilizers and pesticides. The problem many people face, however, is
the fact that they lack the yard space to plant themselves a garden.
Well, there is an answer to achieve environmentally friendly flowers,
fruits, and vegetables, organic container gardening.
Container gardening is the best way for those who live in a home with
very little yard or live in an apartment. Often times, you want a
beautiful garden, but you simply do not have the space necessary. How
do you get started in organic container gardening? Well, the first
thing you need to do is pick out a container or several if you want
more than one. When beginning in organic container gardening, you will
likely want to choose a container that is created from materials of the
natural form, such as wood.
Size of the container does not really matter much, the choice is yours.
You of course want to make sure you have space on your porch, patio,
balcony, or even inside your home, depending on where you intend to
place your container garden. The second step in organic container
gardening is to choose the soil you are wanting to use. In organic
gardening, you will want to choose soil that is free from chemicals and
fertilizers. Some great ways to obtain soil is by visiting a store and
buying pre-bagged mixtures or creating your own.
You can create your own soil by mixing perlite or sand, with aged
compost. Compost can be made of scraps of produce, clippings of
produce, leaves, and grass. These are all very natural and work well
with organic container gardening. You want to be sure that these items
are also free of chemicals as well.
The entire goal of organic container gardening is to keep things as
natural as possible. By producing fruits and vegetables in a chemical
free environment, you are providing your family with healthier foods
and choices. Chemical free organic container gardening is the best way
to please Mother Nature. She likes things natural and you just might
find that you enjoy the taste of your plants a whole lot more without
using chemicals.
