Lawn Care Tips For A Greener Yard
With gardening season fast approaching its time to think about your lawn and prepare it for the growing season. Spring is the time to re seed bare patches in the long if you haven't already done in the fall. a wet spring will help the seeds germinate and you will soon see little sprigs of green grass filling in the bare patches.
You want to start applying fertilizer to your lawn in the spring as early as possible. Use of fertilizer that controls we eat which will help keep weed growth down in addition to giving the young grass shoots the nutrients they need to grow.
when the snow melts, check for areas where the blades of grass have clumped up and compressed from the snow packed on top. This can leave a strong light covering (thatch) down at the soil level and can interfere with iteration and water absorption.
Give aggressive good raking to pull up the thatched areas of loosened up the soil. If the ground is really tight and compact you might want to have some aeration done. This is done by using a special drum like gizmo that has spikes poking out with spikes poking to the ground causing little holes that allow for better moisture and aeration and will really perk up your lawn.
Get your lawn on a regular system of fertilizing and watering and you'll have a green lawn your neighbors will envy.
