Landscaping 101

Landscaping takes practicality and creativity. But you can't just wing it, you have to follow proper design principles in order to get something that looks good. One way to start is to look at the space that you have been divided into different areas for different purposes of the landscape.

You could call these areas activity zones whatever you want but each one has a particular purpose. One could be a flower garden, one could be a vegetable garden you could have perhaps a garden pond or a deck or patio area. All these areas as well as your tool shed, paths and fences are part of the entire landscape and need to be considered in relation to each other.

the best way to start is to sketch out some designs of what you would like the art to look like. The kids will hear thou as you will have to have things pretty much to scale otherwise what ends up happening in real life might not be anything that looks like what you put on paper. If you are not comfortable drawing these things are yourself you can get software that will help you design your landscape ().

Another thing to consider is the flowers and plants you want in your landscape and we are to place them where they will have the best chance of thriving. Some people like a multi-leveled tiered garden and others prefer a circular garden that can be viewed from all sides. It really depends on the shape and size of your yard.

When designing your landscape you be to figure in for a shed to hold your tools, law mower and other yard implements.

Workout the different positions for trees and flowerbeds and don't be afraid to experiment with different flowers and different types of trees. Be careful, however, to make note of the signs that these plants will grow to be sure that they will fit into your yard. Also, consider root growth and don't plant large trees too close to the house or driveway. Another thing to think about with trees is the leaves and fall maintenance.

When you are planning the trees and shrubs and flowers for your landscape don't forget to think about the time it's going to take you to maintain these plants. If you love to put her around in the garden in you can pick most anything but if you want your proving and transplanting tasks to be at a minimum you want to be careful about which plants you pick.

You'll want to consider plant placement as well. If you have a lot of shady areas you need to buy plants that thrive in the shade and the sunny areas need to be reserved for flowers that loves sun. You might want to also consider putting in an underground water and system if you have a lot of flowers as most of them need quite a bit of water.

The plantings that you have will depend on your climate, conditions of your yard and geography as these consider the length of the growing season as well as a type of plants you can plant.

While getting a great landscape does take some time and forethought you won't have to be an expert landscaper to get good results. Start off slowly and simply and you can add on a redo things as you become more experience. This way you be able to see your skills grow as well as your plantings.
