Cedar Outdoor Furniture
Cedar outdoor furniture has many benefits aside from it's natural beauty and sturdy construction.
Three are several types of cedar used to make outdoor furniture but all of it is durable and provides a sleek elegance to your outdoor décor. Western Red Cedar comes from North America and has a red tinge with a nice aroma. White cedar is a light color and weathers to a silvery gray and Spanish cedar is a medium brown in color.

Cedar outdoor furniture is naturally resistant to rot. The wood produces substances that drive away fungis as well as insects making it a good choice for outdoor furniture.
It is a very strong wood and if you buy furniture that is well constructed should last for many, many years.
You can apply different stains and finishes to your furniture depending on the eventual look you want. Some people like to let it age naturally and apply no sealer or stain. If you choose this route, your furniture will eventually weather to a silvery gray with raised grain but may form darker stains where the hardware sits. To avoid the darker stains and raised grain, you can apply a wood sealer.
If you like the warm colors of your cedar outdoor furniture, you can apply a stain to prevent the natural weathering. You can actually stain it any color you choose but be sure to use a stain that is recommended for outdoor use and that has a UV inhibitor. Stain should be reapplied every 2 years. Of course, you can always paint your wood furniture as well, but this is a bit more maintenance than the other two choices. Paint can blister, peel and crack, so you will eventually have to sand down the piece and reapply paint to keep it looking fresh.
