Annual And Perennial Garden Seeds
Buying annual and perennial garden seeds can be a great way to save some money on your garden.
You should not plant either perennials or annuals in your garden until after any fear of frost has passed. This date will be different depending on where you live. You can acclimate your seedlings by taking them outside each day. Put them in a place that is shady and out of the wind. Each day let them sit in the sun (and breeze) for longer amounts of time. Start off by exposing them to the sun for a half hour and them gradually increase their time out over the span of about 2 weeks. Remember to them protected from pelting rain!
Garden seeds for annuals and perennials all have different germination periods so it is best to follow the directions on the package. Most likely you will be soaking the seeds and putting them in a dark place until they sprout. It is important to keep most seeds moist so you will need to check them often. Sometimes it is fun to plant the seeds right in the earth provided it is warm enough. You may want to make sure you cover the soil with something to discourage birds, chipmunks and other creatures from eating your newly plated seed.
Garden seeds can be a fun project for kids as well as adults. What better satisfaction than to know that you grew your own flowers from seeds?
