Hydroponics Gardening
The word hydroponics comes from the Greek word Hydro meaning water and ponos meaning labor. Since hydroponics gardening involves growing plants in liquid as opposed to soil it is aptly named.
While hydroponics gardening may seem like a complicated newfangled way to grow plants it is actually just as simple as regular gardener. Both require that you have enough light humidity temperature water and nutrients for the plants to survive. The difference is that hydroponics uses no soil. Instead the plants roots are housed in a soil substitute and nutrients are carried to the plant for water. Indoor hydroponic gardening is actually rather simple and plants grow well using this method.
One of the most important parts of hydroponic gardening is of course the nutrient solution. It's important that it maintain a pH level of five to six after dilution. Plants are watered using a pomp and an electronic timer since they need to be watered at least three times a day.
The best temperature for an indoor hydroponic garden is between 71 to 76° Fahrenheit. However some plants may require an even warmer temperature especially if they are tropical in nature.
As with regular gardening hydroponic plants need ample light. If you are growing plants indoors you need to place them near a light source that is adequate. If there is no natural light you can use an artificial lights that can be bought at plant stores specifically for this purpose. High pressure sodium bulbs or lights are a great substitute for natural lighting.
Most plants enjoy humidity and if you are growing a hydroponics garden inside you may want to consider getting a humidifier. But if you keep your warm enough the air will be able to hold enough moisture to satisfy your plants needs.
If you think the hydroponics system will be a lot of work then think again! They can actually be less work than regular garden he can as it can be fully automated. Since the system is water-based there was no soil to muck around with, no weeding, and no dirty mess. In addition you can reuse the water over and over again so there is no waste.
With hydroponics gardening you can achieve a high yield of good quality plan. You can buy hydroponics systems and do-it-yourself kits and most hardware and plant and garden stores as well as online.
