Container Gardens

Container gardens are great for apartments rooftops and balconies or just anywhere where you don't have enough soil to plant a regular garden. Container gardens can be great for a patio or cemented area around the pool. If you want to live and appeared back and grabbing some containers and filling them with plants is a great way to create a garden.

Container gardens give the gardener the freedom to rearrange his gardener will. You can easily bear your color scheme and even the types of plants you put on display by moving the containers around or just replacing the plants in each container. You can go with a single color display or all different colors but either way you want to make sure that you use plants of varying height and texture to add interest. You might want to confine flowering plants with foliage such as tall strap like Franz or leaves which can add a great background. Most people prefer use annuals with a long flowering season in a containers so they only have to play once in the beginning of the season each year.

You can use your creativity to come up with interesting containers in which to plant your container gardens. How about using any antique birdbaths or an old copper urn. Large porcelain bowls make great planners and don't forget to stick terra-cotta planters into old broken down chairs and other pieces of furniture for interesting display.

If you buy containers from the garden store there is plenty to choose from. Make sure you buy some that have a varying height shape and texture and used complementary or matching colors. If you use terra-cotta pots be sure to paints the insides of the sealer so that they don't absorb too much water and dry out your plants. When buying your containers don't forget to also get the matching saucers especially if you're container garden is going to be on a deck or patio. These saucers will help catch the water and save your decking or cement from getting stained. Be sure to use a good quality potting mixture in your container garden so your plants grow to be vibrant and lush.

There are many interesting uses for gardens and containers. Window boxes are traditional use and can be hung beneath windows or even on balcony railings. The front steps leading up to house is a great place to put a few containers with some plants and you can also just placed containers throughout your planted garden as well. One thing to remember, when placing your containers in the garden steps or patio be sure that plants that need someplace and sun and plants that prefer shade her place in shade otherwise you'll be disappointed with the way your plants grow.

When grouping your containers be sure to group them in odd numbers. For some reason it looks better to see a group of three or five containers clustered together than two or four. For more effective container garden use pots of the same color and type but vary the size is which will add interest to the display.
