What are Annuals?
Annual plants, or annuals, are plants that last for only a year. Also known as bedding plants, they are relatively inexpensive plants prized for their brightly colored flowers. Most garden owners use them to add color to their gardens all throughout the year.
Annuals begin and finish their life cycle within one growing season. They are often bought in spring, or as soon as winter ends. The most popular annuals include the impatiens, the geranium, the petunia, the marigold, and the begonia.

Many chain stores have annuals available after the winter season. You might also want to look into some greenhouses. Annuals are packaged in many different ways. Depending on the size of the plants, you may receive them in packs or in pots. Once you have the annual in your possession, place it in a lightly shaded area and water whenever necessary.
How Do You Plant Annuals?
How you go about planting annuals will depend on the particular species that you chose to acquire. Generally, however, annual planting sites should be positioned in places with much sunlight, as well as those with well-drained soil.
Before you plant an annual, be sure to moisten the soil where you intend to plant it on. Annuals often require warm soil and stable temperatures to thrive, so do your best to provide just that. Be very careful when removing your annual from its original container. It is imperative that you do not damage its root system; otherwise it can deteriorate very quickly. Try using organic mulch and some liquid fertilizer as well.
As the plants develop and start having flowers, you will have to pay more attention to fertilization. You should also remove dead branches and flowers regularly. This will prevent the growth of detrimental fungi. Check your annuals daily for signs of wilting, and adjust the brand of care you give accordingly.
